Thingdom
Hello 8th Graders!
I am gone today with the rest of the science department at the Hoosier Associate of Science Teachers, hopefully learning a lot of new ideas for lessons that will be really fun for you! While I am gone, I have a game for you. You are going to be looking at selective breeding. Think back to our conversation about breeding dogs and how we don't want a bunch of pugs instead of German shepherds and vice versa.
In this game, you are going to take a look at the probability of different traits being expressed while you are breeding Things. There are several different challenges that you are going to face in several different environments. Not to mention, you are also going to have to take care of your Things by making sure they are well fed and happy.
As you work, you are going to answer some questions about Thingdom and what we have learned about genetics so far. Make sure you turn this in to your substitute before you leave! I am going to give you a grade for having participated in this lab.
When you are ready. click the picture of the Things above to get started! Click 'new player' to begin and if you want to save your progress, you may do so at the bottom of the game.
If you would like to play the game again at home, you may always come back to this site. Also, keep an eye out for more games that relate to the content in class or news articles that I think you would really like. Enjoy!
